Who needs another Tee Shirt? I always ask myself why bother to make a tee when the RTW are so cheap… well, it fits in the shoulders, the v neck is perfect depth and width, the length of sleeve and shirt are always to my liking, and the color is always a guaranteed favorite. This is Peekaboo Pattern Shop’s Women’s Essential Tee. I graded 3x chest to 5x waist and hips. But I also drafted the 5x sleeve onto 3x top. My measurements are 48 bust, 49 waist, 59 hips. Max measurements are 58 bust, 50 waist, 59 hips. Lots of options! Generous bicep on upper sleeve. Good instructions. #peekaboopatternshop #sewover50plus

True Bias Riley overalls. Straight size 30 with 1….

True Bias Riley overalls. Straight size 30 with 1.5 inch total crotch extensions. Heavy cotton twill. Looking forward to wearing these when it eventually warms up. Did all 60+ instructions. It is a lot of work, but worth it. Will reduce bib size and shorten straps next time, but no other changes needed. Just wearing these makes me feel younger. Really pushing my comfort zone with these short overalls, but in a good direction. The Riley 14-20 goes to max waist 59.5” and 61.5” hips. #sewover50plus #rileyoveralls #punkfrockers #pfstretchyourself

Just finished this Cashmerette Stanton Hoodie. Took a Zoom class with Sarah Joiner through Pintuck and Purl shop. Graded size 20 chest, 28 waist, 30 hips, and 26 full bicep sleeve. A bit tricky to grade, but I have super comfy hoodie which fits but I am not drowning in it. Sweatshirt fleece with cotton spandex scraps for lining. OESD embroidery from their Sashiko Reflections collection. #cashmerettestanton #pintuckandpurl #oesdembroidery #sewover50plus #curvysewingcollective

CARGO PANTS for the over 50 plus size person! Here…

CARGO PANTS for the over 50 plus size person! Here is my round 3 entry for Pattern Review’s 2023 Sewing Bee Round 3. These are the Mitchell Trousers pattern from Closet Core Patterns, with some minor modifications. Along with adding some fun cargo pockets, I added ankle straps and cinching at the bottom hem, to allow me to tame the wide leg and add some wow, giving me 3 looks in one. The fit on these pants is amazing without elastic, while still being comfortable standing, sitting, and moving. 3 pockets are included, slash, cargo, and welt. I also went with belt buckles for accent. It is an intermediate sewing pattern, but worth all the work! Sold in two size ranges with upper size range 14-32 supporting 53” waists and 63” hips. I made a mix of size 26 in front and size 28 in back, shortened leg by 4”, and 1” extensions to front and back crotch. My measurements are ever changing which makes the adjustable waist so perfect. #patternreview #sewover50plus #punkfrockers #pflegcages #closetcorepatterns

My Round 1 entry for Pattern Review’s Sewing …

My Round 1 entry for Pattern Review’s Sewing Bee contest. The challenge was to make a knit dress with a twist. This is inspired by Alabama Chanin Design Studio. Cotton jersey knit ropes twisted then couched onto the bodice. I am mere novice. You should check out their creations. The pattern is 5 out of 4 Pattern’s Nancy Raglan, modified to fit me. This was a one week challenge. #5oo4patterns #alabamachanin #patternreview #sewover50plus

I made the Mitchell Trousers by Closet Core. My measurements are 48 waist, 58 hips, and I am 5’4”. I made size 28, with minor extension to crotch curve. I removed 1.5 inches in length. These are so comfortable, standing, sitting, and moving. The pleats in front of pockets add room while seated. The back darts and welt pockets make the back so snazzy. Side straps allow you to snug up or loosen for those time you want some flexibility. Made in medium to heavy weight linen. No gaping at the back while seated. Construction is interesting. #closetcoremitchell #sewover50plus #weedstowildflowers #punkfrockers

Cautionary tale … up until last winter I had the best nightgowns in soft supple stretch cotton. Made to my measurements and just ever so dreamy. But as a newbie to sewing with knits, I did not use ball point needles, and all along the seams small holes began to appear and last winter I was forced to retire them to rag bag. Now, I am one month into cold weather and just getting around to replacing them. Use ball points needles with knits! #sewover50plus

So excited!!! Working on my first pair of Mitchell trousers by Closet Core patterns, and other than minor crotch curve extensions, the fit is amazing. Still have to put in hem and waist facings. I added a bit of extra height to the center back on waist, but it was not necessary. Trimming it off to follow original pattern. Sits so nicely, so comfortable. I loved the Pietra’s and these are as nice without elastic in waist band. Waist 48 Hips 58, made size 28 with .75 inches added to extend back crotch curve. A bit long, but that was intentional. Cannot wait to finish and wear these. Thanks to Beverly of Punk Frockers for the inspiration. #sewover50plus #weedstowildflowers #punkfrockers #closetcoremitchell
