#MeMadeMay2023 day 16, cool and breezy day, so I chose a warm comfy 5 out of 4 Nancy knit dress, embellished with an Alabama Chanin Design Studio technique of hand couching knit ropes on to a knit garment and some embroidery done along the edges with cotton button thread. This had been washed and worn many times and it has become a favorite for chilly days. This was an entry for this year’s Pattern Review Sewing Bee. CARGO PANTS for the over 50 plus size person! Here is my round 3 entry for Pattern Review’s 2023 Sewing Bee Round 3. These are the Mitchell Trousers pattern from Closet Core Patterns, with some minor modifications. Along with adding some fun cargo pockets, I added ankle straps and cinching at the bottom hem, to allow me to tame the wide leg and add some wow, giving me 3 looks in one. The fit on these pants is amazing without elastic, while still being comfortable standing, sitting, and moving. 3 pockets are included, slash, cargo, and welt. I also went with belt buckles for accent. It is an intermediate sewing pattern, but worth all the work! Sold in two size ranges with upper size range 14-32 supporting 53” waists and 63” hips. I made a mix of size 26 in front and size 28 in back, shortened leg by 4”, and 1” extensions to front and back crotch. My measurements are ever changing which makes the adjustable waist so perfect. #patternreview #sewover50plus #punkfrockers #pflegcages #closetcorepatterns

Round Two entry for Pattern Review’s annual sewing bee contest. The challenge was to make a garment that the collar is the predominant feature. I used pin tucks and hem stitching on linen to create my own textile, which I used to make the V neck sailor collar. It is Folkwear’s Patterns Metro Middy Blouse. I used lightweight linen, Wing needle, twin needles, foot 46C on my Bernina sewing machine, Aqua Mesh Plus stabilizer from OESD, and Isacord Embroidery thread. #patternreview #sewingbee2023 #folkwearpatterns #berninausa #oesdembroidery #isacordthread

My Round 1 entry for Pattern Review’s Sewing Bee contest. The challenge was to make a knit dress with a twist. This is inspired by Alabama Chanin Design Studio. Cotton jersey knit ropes twisted then couched onto the bodice. I am mere novice. You should check out their creations. The pattern is 5 out of 4 Pattern’s Nancy Raglan, modified to fit me.
