Mucking about outside of Dove Cottage, home of William Wordsworth in village of Grasmere in Lakes District. Stokx’s patterns Winter Birdy dress in a soft stretchy travel friendly fabric, breathable and quick dry, wrinkle resistant and unfortunately I cannot remember where I found the fabric. Most comfortable outfit of the trip so far! #stokxpatterns #stokxinthewild

Made a 4 way garment, reversible and can be worn front to back. Hacked the Forager Pinafore by Its Sew Becca. I found the pattern on Etsy. It is more of an apron, which I heavily modified. I just love the deep V and single layer skirt which keeps garment light but still covers me. Size inclusive. Used a Robert Kaufman Sevenberry Nara Stripe Homespun, which I loved both sides. Really beefy cotton. This should be perfect for an upcoming trip! #sevenberrynarahomespun #punkfrockers #sewover50september #sewover50plus

Another Olya Shirt hot off the sewing machine. All summer when it got cold I reached for my first Olya. With the weather cooling down I wanted another. With the plaid I placed the cuff, lower front panels, and back yokes on the bias which limited the need for pattern matching to just the very top of button band. This Paper Theory’s pattern is so comfortable and also is great for layering. Construction is a bit different. The fabric is a cotton oxford from Burkholder’s Fabrics in Denver, PA. #sewover50plus #burkholdersfabrics #olyashirt #papertheorypatterns

Hot off the sewing machine. Daughter Judy’s Genre Shirt. This is a relaxed and slightly oversized button up with luscious full sleeves and a curved high/low hems. I made 2X bust, sleeves, and waist and then graded to 4X hips. My measurements are 46:47:56.5. There are no bust darts which works on me. Thank you for the inspiration @agatheringofstitches The pattern instructions are good and it is beautifully drafted, and a straightforward construction. Perhaps not the right pattern for a first time button up shirt. Already planning a second in a tencel denim chambray and I might downsize the next one.

Covid!!! After 3 and a half years and all my vaccines up to date I finally let my guard down, and enjoyed a fun night out and three days later I tested positive for the first time with Covid. I did not panic. I had heard how folks we’re basically bored and tired during their covid bouts. I thought I will read and do puzzles, catch up on some tv programs. But, my covid was not that at all. Instead, my throat was so sore I stopped eating. The constant coughing fits only intensified the pain, which prevented any sleep. Six days later I am finally starting to emerge from my Covid hell. I still have days until I will be able to safely leave home. I would never want to risk passing this on to others. The drugs needed to support Covid patients are difficult to find. My lungs and breathing were not effected so I consider myself lucky. But, in case you thought Covid was a thing of the past, I am here to tell you it is not.
