My latest make for Pattern Review’s Round 3 Sewing Bee. The pattern is Tania by Jalie, with max waist 44″ and max hip 54″. Jalie does offer other patterns in more extended sizes. Jalie provided a complimentary copy of the pattern for this challenge. Details on altering the pattern to accommodate my 46.5″ bust, C cup, 49″ waist, and 59″ hips are included in my blog post, at JustCutTheScrap dot Com. #jalie3906 #jaliepatterns #patternreview #sewover50 #sewover50plus #fatsewover50 #pfnatural

Here is the Anna Allen Athena Puffed Sleeve Top and Dress pattern, sewn size 22, only changed the center button placket for design purposes. I created the machine appliqué button hole design myself. Lovely soft linen. Changed gathers to pleats and used French seam for beautiful inside finish as well. Hidden buttons on inside also. Love this pattern, follow directions for quick and easy sew, or perfect starting point for pattern hacking. It is a tried and true pattern for me. But, sadly not drafted in extended size range, but design accommodates my pear shape. Bust 46” C cup, waist 48”, and 58” hip. #sewover50 #sewover50plus #pftnt

Would you like to turn your fitted sloper into a fun Hoodie pattern? Wonder how to transfer sleeves from one garment to the next? In this blog I describe how to draft a lined hoodie with crossover yokes, and put the full bicep option sleeves from Cashmerette’s Vernon shirt pattern on my sloper.

I self-drafted this pattern, digitized the embroidery, and made this Embroidered Linen Hoodie. I cannot stop smiling. This was inspired by a Jalie pattern which is not offered in my size range, and the sleeves are from Cashmerette’s new pattern, the Vernon shirt with full bicep option for C cup in view A. This is my entry for Round 1 in PatternReview Sewing Bee 2022 Contest. #sewover50 #sewover50plus #fatsewover50

Here is my Stokx Shirtdress, in progress shot. I really love the design of this dress. I think it really works with my curves. Although, the construction is different in a few areas, it is cool. The one area, I am struggling a bit is with bicep. Even after grading up 3 sizes for my bicep, the still fit is good, but, not enough ease for comfortable movement. I am going to do full bicep adjustment to the sleeve, and try again. This is pretty typical as my biceps are proportionally bigger. This dress is worth it, with its modern design lines. Also, these are 3/4 sleeves which I will shorten a couple of inches.I love the wild shawl like collar, the pockets are perfect. The front yoke is perfect shaping and area for potential embellishment. The back shaping falls so nicely over my curves. This is going to be so comfortable. Also versatile, as it can be worn as dress or duster. #sewover50plus #stokxpatterns #fatsewover50

Stokx Shirtdress in progress, this is an advance pattern with several new to me construction methods. I am truly enjoying the challenge, and incredibly excited to slip this make on. My dressform is slightly larger than me, so it should look even better on me. Being a pear shape, I made size 6 on top, and graded to 9 for hips and waist and sleeve. C cup, 46 chest, 48 waist, 57 hips. Lots of mental work to grade it but definitely doable. Princess seams are just basted for now. Love sewing again! I won this pattern. Here is the True Bias Marlo Sweater, in double cotton jersey knit. I down sized several sizes, did no grading. I made straight size 24. My measurements are 47 bust, c cup, 48 waist, 57 hips. I will make another with a more structured knit, and perhaps another size smaller. This is incredibly comfortable, and I love it for a layering piece. It was my first time doing buttonholes and topstitching on such a super stretchy knit, and I struggled. I did interface as instructed. #sewover50plus #fatsewover50 #truebiasmarlo

Tired of the shoulder seams and front neckline of my me made tee shirts going on walk about during the day. I will be applying a forward shoulder adjustment in all future makes. But fabric is expensive, so I unpicked the upper arms, and chopped top of tee shirt off, drafted new front and back yokes pieces with forward shoulder adjustment made. Then I combined front and back yoke pieces at shoulder seam, adding a seam down center of the back yoke. Seamless shoulders, color blocking, my new favorite rehabilitated tee shirt. #sewover50plus #sewover50
