Homemade vegetable beef soup… perfect for this cold spring snowstorm. Hoping everyone is safe and warm.

Self care! I am still not a fan of batch sewing BUT 6 pairs of leggings for myself. As of today I am getting rid of all my remaining ready to wear leggings. Just no comparison. Comfort contour waistband and no side seams all for under 1.5 yards of Amanda’s Bundles peached performance per pair. I am trying some mid weight for the first time but will probably stick with the regular slightly thicker peached performance. It is 87% polyester and 13% spandex. Breathable, moisture wicking and so comfortable. I live in these for 3 out of the 4 seasons. These are made using Apostrophe Patterns My Fit Leggings pattern generator. Sewn on serger and coverstitch machines. Added a little contrasting knit tag on inside to avoid the embarrassment of discovering my leggings are on inside out mid morning. Lol.

Feels good … grateful for the freedom of choice.

First round of quilting done, basting thread has been removed. Progress is being made! It is going to be a joy to curl up under…especially with these Arctic temperatures we are having lately. Stay warm all!

Thread basting and marking to prepare for machine quilting. I remember now how much I love making quilts. The many steps and different techniques along the way. Taking the time to get it right but not aiming for perfection. The opportunity for quiet reflections. The feel of a quilt coming together is so rewarding. I am grateful to be able to create! This is king size, with 8 inch finished blocks, placed 12 by 14 for a total of 168 blocks. Should be 96 x 112 inches. Warm and natural cotton batting and solid 108 inch wide cotton backing. It is a bit of a beast to move around. Thank goodness for my upper body workouts.

Look what I found. I made this quilt many years ago, and I discovered it stored away on a high shelf of my sewing studio. King size, and tightly quilted. I made this quilt to help brighten the dreary winter, and it still works its magic.

It is coming together … remembering my passion for quilting… but time to pack it away to make room for Christmas tree … 🌲

Love my machine embroidery. Turned photo into an embroidery design. The branching feature in V9 software is amazing. Using Bernina machine and software. This is going on pocket of my DH’s new Christmas shirt. Having too much fun!

King size scrap quilt using batiks. Over 170 blocks done and ready for final assembly… my return to quilting after many years. Quilt pattern is Orion’s Star. Taking a break from garment sewing…
